Things Learned

Whenever life beans you with a throw you gotta shake that off and take your base. So I roll up to Richmond & Vancouver Canada when I need space to think. In between meeting up with the homie, drinking with my cousins until damn near 6 am, getting into a car accident, lolas (grandmother) can fix everything, and saying goodbye to family that hasn’t been to North America in 15 years I forgot all about my “problems”. I always thought I knew why my dad drove us up there so much, but it hasn’t been so glaringly apparent until this weekend.
…and damn, Granville on Saturday night is nuts.

V-Day

Valentine’s Day, love it or hate it, brings about a slew of love/fucking themed mixtapes. These two have been putting me in that zone for the past few days.

Terrace Martin – The EP Volume 2: Lover’s Edition
Roof gone, driving up I-5 outside of city limits with your main thang = this

U-N-I & Glenn the Engineer Present: The Ultimate Sextape
Just look at the tracklisting (courtesy of 2dopeboyz), you know what goes down when you chop out the interludes and put it on replay.
In terms of gifts, make sure you do it right. Please no grocery store chocolates, go out of your damn way to get some legit confections. Theo chocolate gets my co-sign ever since I checked out their factory a little over a month ago.
Have a good one whether you’re going out for dinner or going out to get twisted.
2009…
December 31st, 2009
It’s been awhile since I’ve jogged down some thoughts over here at the consortium, an annual retrospect might as well be the mark of my return.
A lot of relationships built, forgotten, and refurbished – most for the better, a few I still have to figure out. Two moves, out a of a decrepit old house on the east side of I-5, up north to the parent’s for a quick stay and some tension. Found some luck and back down to a nice nice spot on the west side. Still struggling with money, saving it sounds easy until the allure of liquor, music, and women calls. I listened to a ridiculous amount of Clipse, Maino, Trey Songz, and Lloyd, along with a handful of DJ Neil Armstrong mixtapes. Interviewed that cat for another blog. Kept my rapport with the associate down in Los Angeles, kept asking for advice and giving it when needed. Loss of direction in the winter. Rallying a couple calls later, direction found. A lot of mistakes made, still have to fix those. Flying Coffin hats. Christmas shopping still not done after the fact, less money mo’ pro’lems. Pam’s Kitchen. Taco Truck. Art shows I never thought I’d be a part of. I’m on the edge now, I can feel it. Over sixty applications, no success. Runner-up. Time to make my own job. Denim. Weirdocult. As much as this year was horrible on paper, I accomplished things I never thought I would have. Women, shoot they always take a spot on my annual list, this year more than ever. So 2009, you were painful, hazy, bizarre, and sometimes amazing. I have to go, 2010 is getting at me.
It’s been a long time

I’ve been busy over at 12ftdwende.com but I only post once a week there. I’ll be back here for more impromptu posts. First off, an amazing release from Nike. This makes up for all the garbage colorways they have been releasing across the board lately.

It’s getting nice up here in the northwest, warm days with a nice breeze and honeys wearing shorts and tank tops. DJ Quik is going to take the stage on my ipod for the next few months, and should on yours as well.
intuition
February 18th, 2009
my lola (grandmother in tagalog) called me up today asking a simple question. what amazed me about this was that she knew to ask this question only on pure intuition, as it had been bothering her for a couple days. the situation she was asking about was 150 miles away. it’s wild how moms can know things like that.
