2009…

It’s been awhile since I’ve jogged down some thoughts over here at the consortium, an annual retrospect might as well be the mark of my return.

A lot of relationships built, forgotten, and refurbished – most for the better, a few I still have to figure out. Two moves, out a of a decrepit old house on the east side of I-5, up north to the parent’s for a quick stay and some tension. Found some luck and back down to a nice nice spot on the west side. Still struggling with money, saving it sounds easy until the allure of liquor, music, and women calls. I listened to a ridiculous amount of Clipse, Maino, Trey Songz, and Lloyd, along with a handful of DJ Neil Armstrong mixtapes. Interviewed that cat for another blog. Kept my rapport with the associate down in Los Angeles, kept asking for advice and giving it when needed. Loss of direction in the winter. Rallying a couple calls later, direction found. A lot of mistakes made, still have to fix those. Flying Coffin hats. Christmas shopping still not done after the fact, less money mo’ pro’lems. Pam’s Kitchen. Taco Truck. Art shows I never thought I’d be a part of. I’m on the edge now, I can feel it. Over sixty applications, no success. Runner-up. Time to make my own job. Denim. Weirdocult. As much as this year was horrible on paper, I accomplished things I never thought I would have. Women, shoot they always take a spot on my annual list, this year more than ever. So 2009, you were painful, hazy, bizarre, and sometimes amazing. I have to go, 2010 is getting at me.

oh, it’s all too real

Almost Like Home

December 22nd, 2009 by

The past weekend was an adventure for anyone living in the capital city, thanks to the first blizzard of the season. It reminds me of when I was a kid. Gradually, snow storms would start further and further into winter, making everyone ask “Will we have a white Christmas?” And sure enough, a blizzard would come just before the holiday and cover everything with it’s beautiful, yet bitter cold ornament. I had forgotten about those winters, when snow angels line the streets, grocery stores close early, and adults get snow days too.

OCS

So ladies and gentlemen. As some of you know, I have decided to join the U.S. Army and attend Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning. I will be heading off in January 2010 and commissioning June 2010. Best of luck to all in the consort. I have been very light in posting since the creation of this site, but I will attempt to blog about my experiences at OCS and beyond.
