tombstone for fireflies

lisa is a big fan of anime…i’m not, but being a good boyfriend i sat through one of her favorite titles, tombstone for fireflies and to my great surprise, i liked it! tff is not what i had in mind when i thought of anime – it has nothing to do with space or robots and there is no crazy soundtrack or seizure inducing images. it is a simple story of a boy and his young sister in WWII japan attempting to survive after the firebombing of their town. it is sad, touching and visually beautiful. i could get into this kind of anime. anyway…you may be wondering about the japanese sweet tin, below. it is the “tombstone” referred to in the title and plays an extended, if minimal, part in the film. check out the flick, you may find yourself surprised.
