I remember seeing ads for Big L’s albums in the Sauce and Double Excel back in middle school and really slept on this cat. The past year or so I’ve been checking on his stee-lo posthumously. A lot of people who aren’t heads always ask me what I just said after I say shit like -”I just caught an L” or “Let me check my celly”. It’s pretty ill that most of the slang broke down in this song is still alive. If not, let’s bring it back. I’m taking “Hit me on my hip” under my wing.

On of my favorite MCs and favorite songs (especially the remix w/Premier). “Hit me on the hip” is also one of the most gangster phrases I can think of. Definitely in need of a come back.
